Description

Church of San Giuseppe

Founded around 1660 , the church was entirely rebuilt between 1723 and 1738 at the instigation of Archpriest Amico Roxas, becoming one of the points of reference for the community of San Cataldo.

Architecture and Decorations

The building is divided into three naves , enriched by a highly valuable stucco decoration, the work of the masters Ferdinando and Filippo Rini . Of particular artistic interest is the choir, on whose railing stand out four panels depicting:

  • Saint Anthony of Padua

  • Saint Cecilia

  • Saint Gregory the Great

  • Saint Ambrose

The Facade and the Altar

The High Altar is the heart of the church, dedicated entirely to the figure of Saint Joseph . The external façade, completed in 1891 , is adorned with two imposing concrete statues created by Giuseppe Emma Senior , depicting Saint Joseph and Christ the King.
