A Journey Through Art and Faith: The New Catalogue of San Cataldo Ceramic Panels

Piazza Calvario isn't just the heart of our Good Friday; it's a unique open-air museum in Italy.

We are happy to announce the publication of the catalog edited by Pro Loco San Cataldo APS, a volume that encompasses the beauty of the 18 ceramic panels that make Piazza Calvario a monument of national importance.

✨ A one-of-a-kind work

From the original location for the historic papier-mâché “Vare” to the rebirth of the chapels through ceramics, the book retraces the Via Crucis and the Via Lucis of San Cataldo.

Thanks to our collaboration with the Italian Association of Ceramic Cities, our Piazza hosts works from Italy's finest ceramic schools. A dialogue between materials, techniques, and art that is now finally documented with rigor and passion in this catalog.

🤝 National synergy focused on our city

This publication marks a special occasion: the 130th anniversary of the founding of the Banca di Credito Cooperativo “G. Toniolo” e San Michele di San Cataldo.

We sincerely thank the Bank for once again demonstrating its inextricable bond with the culture and identity of San Cataldese by making this precious volume possible.

📖 The Catalogue was edited by: Salvatore Scarlata, Giulia Amoribello, Gaia Gattuso.

Thanks also go to the historical sources (Edizioni Lussografica) and to all the artists who made "our" Piazza Calvario an Italian excellence and who contributed to the drafting of the catalogue.
